Cyber & Specialist Operations Command (CSOC) develops, generates, operates and integrates unique and pan-Defence capabilities to maintain operational and strategic advantage. Reservists with specialist skills are a key component of CSOC activity.
About the Role
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a truly meaningful impact within Defence? We are seeking a motivated and adaptable individual to join our Reserves Leadership Team (RLT) in the newly formed Cyber & Specialist Operations Command. This role benefits from routine exposure to MSHQ (RF&C), the other Military Commands and internal 2 and 3* sub-organisations across the array of CSOC capability areas. It offers the flexibility of remote working, with occasional office attendance required 1–2 times per month.
Positioned within the CSOC 2* People Directorate, the RLT is headed by an OF6, with three OF5 Assistant Heads. As SO2 Chief of Staff, you will be the sole full-time member of the team with considerable delegated authority. This role requires an officer with broad understanding of volunteer reserve service, and ideally some Joint experience (which can be acquired).
Key Responsibilities
* Support and coordinate RLT activities, with emphasis on development of Joint reserve policy and strategy on behalf of the Command.
* Liaise with CSOC business areas and Reserves Hub to identify where reservists could make a significant contribution to the whole force, meeting the Command's highest priority capability requirements.
* Work closely with Reserve Forces & Cadets, and other Military Commands, supporting the realisation of the 2* Defence Reserve Campaign Plan outputs.
* Act as the primary focal point for reserve matters across the CSOC HQ. Represent the RLT at desk-level working groups including Employer Engagement, future force design, strategic reserve work-strands and implementation of reserve-focused SDR initiatives.
