Overview

The Principal Manufacturing Engineer - Industrialisation is responsible for developing a manufacturing system and process, alongside the creation of manufacturing and test instructions, FMEAs and Phase Gate reviews, with various technical aspects of Manufacturing. This role leads continuous improvement activities, prepares for IVM & VMS certification, and develops risk aversion strategies and efficient non-conformance management methodologies to align with team priorities. The opportunity supports growth within manufacturing as part of future development, with work packages covering Industrial Validation, manufacturing architecture and factory of the future principles to provide stretched objectives.


Responsibilities

* Develop manufacturing systems and processes in response to the defined Manufacturing Architecture and the Manufacturing, Inspection and Test Plan.
* Create and approve manufacturing and test instruction documentation.
* Conduct Process FMEA and prove process capability.
* Lead Industrialisation aspects of Product Gate Reviews.
* Oversee obsolescence from a manufacturing business unit perspective.
* Lead Spiral Development activities for the business unit/project.
* Lead and support Continuous Improvement initiatives to ensure the area of responsibility continually develops to improve efficiency.
* Lead business unit rate increase requirements.
* Support the Manufacturing Engineering Manager during the preparation and proving of the Production System for IVM & VMS certification.
* Identify risks and implement aversion strategies related to technical definition and manufacturing methodologies.
* Develop, maintain and control technical interfaces to customers, suppliers and collaborators to ensure effective and swift resolution of technical issues.
* Manage non-conformance effectively and drive corrective action.
* Act as manufacturing focal point at key meetings to report progress of engineering actions and align the team with programme priorities.


Qualifications

* Degree/HND level of qualifications or equivalent in a relevant subject.
* Experience of the product development lifecycle in an electronics environment with awareness of PLC2.
* Good manufacturing knowledge gained through experience and understanding of industry best practice.
* Ability to influence across a team of functional professionals.
* Budgetary management training.

Salary: Circa £50,000 per year (dependent on experience). This is a permanent full-time role with a dynamic (hybrid) working pattern: 3 or 4 days on-site per week depending on workload. Security Clearance: British Citizen or a dual UK national with British citizenship. After offer, all successful candidates will undergo BPSS checks managed by MBDA’s Personnel Security Team.
