Volunteer Driver - Health and Wellbeing Centre, Dumfries House
The Health and Wellbeing Centre at Dumfries House provides holistic services to the local community. It is run by The Prince’s Foundation and offers an Integrated Health and Wellbeing Programme, with the centre open to health charities and other organisations. The programme includes health care initiatives such as Chronic Pain, Obesity and Weight Management, and Mental Health courses, open to anyone in Ayrshire. The centre is based at the Dumfries House Estate, and there may be accessibility challenges due to limited public transport links.
Volunteer drivers support the foundation and, importantly, the participants. Duties include transporting people from their homes to Dumfries House and returning them home again, using their own vehicles. Participants will be assessed to ensure they are fit to enter and exit the vehicle independently.
The well-being programmes run for 6 to 12 weeks, with morning and/or afternoon sessions. Each session lasts about 3 hours. Volunteers can choose to stay on the estate for a walk in the grounds and enjoy complimentary tea or coffee, or depart after transporting participants.
