Overview
Our client is a UK-based leading engineering firm seeking an experienced Operations/Production Manager (with a strong background in welding and fabrication) to lead a skilled team of engineers and technicians within a fast-growing, dynamic organisation. This pivotal leadership role aims to optimise shop floor performance, enhance processes, and contribute to continued growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding and fabrication and excel in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, driving operational efficiency and delivering exceptional customer outcomes. A strategic, hands-on leader with a passion for operational excellence and a strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
Permanent on-site Coventry – Hours of work: 7:30am-4pm Mon-Thu & 7:30am-3pm Fri.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Senior Managers to align operational and production activities across departments for optimal efficiency.
* Lead planning and execution of projects, ensuring on-time delivery, within budget, and to high quality standards.
* Conduct technical contract reviews to ensure customer requirements and specifications are understood, communicated, and met.
* Drive continuous improvement in laser cutting, fabrication, and related processes to improve efficiency, quality, and reduce costs.
* Act as a key point of contact for customers, managing relationships, resolving issues proactively, and maintaining high customer satisfaction.
* Oversee production scheduling to prioritise and plan work to meet delivery deadlines.
* Manage and coordinate specific project work packages, ensuring cross-departmental coordination and timely execution.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as an Operations/Production Manager in an engineering environment, particularly Welding/Fabrication/Laser cutting
* Knowledge of engineering processes
* Understanding of engineering drawings
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work effectively in a team
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Energetic, outgoing, confident leadership with a hands-on approach
