Overview
The Children’s Therapy Services identify, assess, support and manage the health needs of children and young people aged 0-18 years, working closely with children and their families in health settings and family homes; and with education colleagues in early years and school settings. As a Specialist Children's Occupational Therapist you will manage your own caseload independently and carry out a range of therapeutic activities. You will offer clinical expertise and use your knowledge to provide professional care, treatment, advice, guidance and support to children and young people with complex needs. This role is based in Weston-Super-Mare; you may be required to attend training and cover across Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
Responsibilities
* Offer clinical expertise within a specified clinical area.
* Manage and carry your own caseload within a specified clinical area.
* Provide a safe, client-centred, effective and evidence-based therapy service in the community setting.
* Deliver clinical activities within the Children’s Service, supported by a robust competency framework, to children in their own homes and other settings such as school/early years or a clinical environment.
* Be part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team (MDT), which may include Paediatricians, Orthotists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, and Physiotherapists.

Qualifications
* Essential criteria
o Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
o Current HCPC registration
* Desirable criteria
o Postgraduate training appropriate to the field of Children’s Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy/Speech and Language Therapy
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
* Experience of working with children and young people, often with complex needs
* Experience of MDT working
* Ability to use evidence-based practice, develop clear care plans and measure outcomes
* Post-qualification experience with children with needs across core areas such as neurology, learning disabilities, outpatients, community, complex needs, Autism, Trauma and Orthopaedics
* Experience of autonomous practice, including caseload management, prioritising cases, and effective organisation and time management
