Job Description
Key Responsibilities
3. Lead and manage the Project Delivery team, ensuring appropriate resourcing, coaching, and workload distribution across live projects.
4. Act as the Senior Project Manager on high-risk/high-priority projects (e.g., financial systems, core infrastructure).
5. Develop and maintain delivery frameworks, templates, RAID and reporting tools aligned to governance.
6. Support directorates in mobilising and delivering business-led projects with proportionate governance and assurance.
7. Coordinate closely with the Portfolio Assurance function to ensure alignment of delivery, risk, and benefits tracking.
8. Support SoW drafting and supplier performance tracking in partnership with Commercial.
9. Champion delivery best practices and mentor less experienced project leads and staff across the organisation.
10. Provide delivery insights and status updates to the Portfolio Board and other governance bodies.
11. Actively contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement of delivery maturity across org
The Successful Applicant
You must have
12. have UK Public Sector project/progamme management experience
13. developed project management capability and maturity
14. have delivered a hands-on finance transformation projects
15. be able to start 21st July
16. be local to & able to be onsite in Bristol
Person SpecificationEssential Experience and Skills:
17. Proven experience delivering technology and digital transformation projects within the UK public sector.
18. Strong understanding of financial systems delivery (e.g., ERP, billing, expenses, reporting platforms).
19. Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams in a portfolio or programme delivery environment.
20. Track record of building delivery maturity and providing advisory/coaching support to low-capability teams.
21. Demonstrated ability to work with stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives and delivery partners.
22. Proficient in delivery planning, risk management, and governance reporting.
23. Strong commercial awareness, including working with SoWs and supplier performance.
Desirable Skills and Attributes:
24. Formal qualifications in project/programme management (e.g., PRINCE2, MSP, Agile, APM).
25. Experience establishing or maturing a PMO or delivery office.
26. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.
