Overview
The Service & Team: Early Years Inclusion and SEND is part of the Inclusion and SEND County Team. We support children aged 0-5 across Cornwall, building multi-agency partnerships with professionals involved in Early Years support. Our aim is to empower early years settings—childminders and schools—to meet the needs of children with additional needs through tailored advice, modelling best practices, delivering training, and assisting with documentation.
The Role
The purpose of the Nursery Nurse is to work as part of the Early Years Service to support inclusion and improve outcomes for children with long-term and complex needs within their setting. You will need recent experience of working with children with SEND, including delivering interventions, to improve the quality of learning and teaching within the graduated approach. A sound understanding of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum is required. The role involves both teamwork and independent work to support the caseload. This is a public/customer-facing role with the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers. An up-to-date safeguarding qualification/training is required. This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.
Working Pattern
Each post is 20 hours per week during term time only. There is flexibility in the days and hours to cover between core hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.
What you'll need to succeed
* Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Early Years Practice
* Good knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and SEND Code of Practice
* Solid understanding of child development and expectations for ages 0-5
* Ability to work as part of a team, flexibly, and also independently
* Ability to drive and have access to a vehicle to attend settings
* Ability to communicate effectively
* Confident and competent user of IT
