We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Procurement Officer/Buyer for a 12 month FTC covering maternity leave
As our Procurement Officer/Buyer, you will be instrumental in managing the procurement process, ensuring that the organisation acquires goods and services at the best possible value. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will leverage your core negotiation skills alongside premium expertise in ERP systems to streamline purchasing operations. Your strong organisational and data analysis skills, coupled with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, will enable you to effectively manage logistics and supply chain activities. The key responsibilities of would be:
* Monitoring and forecasting inventory, determining purchasing needs.
* Importing materials - porcelain, sandstone, granite, slate, artificial grass, grout, cladding, etc. Ensuring best price is secured each time from multiple suppliers.
* Negotiates pricing with suppliers and managing all bulk stock purchasing
* Coordinating the logistics of shipping each container / trailer. Obtaining multiple quotes each time to secure the quickest / most cost-effective route.
* Booking all container arrivals into site at appropriate times.
* Communicating with the Managing Director, yard manager, sales manager and sales employees on stock levels, current prices, lead times and container arrivals into site.
* Booking in stock, ensuring the correct quantities are received and that the selling prices are correct.
* Building and maintaining relationships with over 100 different suppliers and shipping agents.
* Books deliveries in and advises yard - manages logistical challenges
* Disputing any material defects or discrepancies with suppliers
* Working closely with internal departments, ensuring each department work together towards one main goal
* Creating product data / spec sheets as and when required for customers
* Running a rolling stocktake with yard. Adjustments, allocations
* Import documentation managed correctly and compliant
* Managing batch information
Key Competencies & Experience:
* Outstanding organisational skills, communication and interpersonal abilities
* Well rounded experience within procurement and buying
* Experience of shipping, importing and working with overseas suppliers
* Flexible and able to work with ever changing goals
* Computer literate with Microsoft packages, with an advanced working knowledge of Excel
* Comfortable working with databases.
* Excellent data analysis skills
Ideally, you would have experience within a Landscaping, Construction, Building material or Merchanting industry.
You will be asked to demonstrate your experience within the interview
