Are you passionate about cutting-edge IoT technology and hands-on systems testing? SPX Radiodetection is seeking a Senior Systems Test Engineer to join our Bristol-based multidisciplinary engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in testing and validating our Locator and CAT IoT platform products while shaping a world-class testing function.
Why this role matters:
* Lead the testing function for next-generation Radiodetection products, from concept to volume manufacture.
* Influence testing strategy and best practices across hardware, embedded firmware, mobile apps, and cloud services.
* Work closely with New Product Development and software teams to ensure high-quality, reliable product delivery.
* Transform the testing function into a benchmark for excellence and innovation.
What you’ll be doing:
* Own end-to-end testing deliverables for integrated systems, including hardware, embedded firmware, mobile apps, and cloud services.
* Develop, maintain, and execute test plans, verification protocols, and validation reports.
* Perform functional and regression testing, both manual and automated, integrating automation into Azure Pipelines.
* Lead technical project management and knowledge sharing, standardising testing methods and documentation.
* Support current-product and software teams in testing or advisory capacity.
* Contribute to the adoption of AI-assisted testing tools, log analysis, and defect prediction (nice-to-have skill).
* Collaborate in an Agile environment with cross-functional teams, following two-week sprints.
Who we’re looking for:
* Hands-on experience in hardware testing and IoT systems, including embedded and connected devices.
* Strong system-level understanding; candidates with purely software backgrounds will not be considered.
* Exposure to functional and regression testing, with interest in expanding automation capabilities.
* Familiarity or interest in AI-assisted testing, though not essential.
* Experience creating end-to-end test plans, reports, and traceable records.
* Understanding of V-model testing, CI/CD pipelines, and quality assurance methodologies (DOE, FEMA, DFSS).
* Enthusiastic technologist with curiosity for new tools and evolving technology.
* Experience with electro-mechanical testing, climatic testing, and failure analysis is desirable.
* Flexible team player, able to work collaboratively with local and software teams.
Working Model & Location:
* Hybrid working, minimum three days per week in Bristol office due to hands-on testing requirements.
* Occasional travel may be required.
Why join SPX Radiodetection:
* Work on cutting-edge IoT and sensing technology.
* Influence and shape the testing function into a world-class operation.
* Collaborate with a highly talented and multidisciplinary engineering team.
* Opportunity to work in a forward-thinking, agile environment with innovative projects.
