Offer description

This is a career-defining opportunity at the heart of the School of Nursing, Allied & Public Health within the Faculty of Health, Science, Social Care and Education. You will be an influential member of a close-knit group of academics behind a varied programme of research-led teaching, student support, workshops, seminars and forward-thinking studies that build the integrated multi-professional school portfolio offering education and development to the pre-registration and post qualifying workforce within health and social care.

You will provide teaching related to anticipating and meeting the needs of people with learning disabilities within integrated care approaches, including acute, public health, primary health care and community and social care environments. This is offered within a portfolio of modules developing a contemporary and evidence-based approach to care corresponding to the Ten-Year Plan for the NHS. Working within a team you will deliver vibrant, real-world education. You will have some clinical experience within Learning Disability Nursing within the domains of practice indicated, offer student support and tutorials, and support learning in practice settings.

Working side-by-side with talented colleagues you will share knowledge and expertise through professional consultancy, pursuing opportunities that generate profitable income and supporting students with valuable placements wherever possible.

An enhanced with barred list Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check clearance is required for the role.

You will hold professional registration with a professional body and appropriate clinical experience within Learning Disability Nursing. A first degree is essential and an MSc or above is desirable. A recognised teaching or learning qualification is not essential although desirable.

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Kingston University standards in learning and teaching, and research. By the end of the probation period, you must have achieved the relevant level of UKPSF recognition (if not already obtained). For those new to teaching, this will be through our accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching; for those experienced, through the Kingston Academic Practice Standards Framework.

On a personal level, you are motivated to deliver exceptional teaching and support to our students. You will use your experience of working in clinical delivery to promote integrated high-quality evidence based professional practice across everything you do. Constantly seeking to improve, you will scrutinise your own work, build private and public sector networks, and work collaboratively to enhance the faculty’s reputation in higher education and occupational circles.
