THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 12M DUE TO MATERNITY COVER
We are looking for a highly motivated and competent staff member with a relevant level of experience and education to join the East Neurodevelopmental Team. The team has a vacancy for a Band 4 Assistant Neurodevelopmental Practitioner to support the work of the service on a fixed term 12 month basis.
Main duties of the job
The team provides assessment and intervention for children and young people with / or suspected of having a Neurodevelopmental condition (Autism Spectrum Disorder / Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder etc). The role is varied and will include acting as a contact point for parents under the service or awaiting assessment, delivering group based interventions under supervision of the clinicians in the team, conducting school based observation, collecting initial information from parents / carers and schools and undertaking some individual work with children / young people and their families when necessary. Full training to undertake the many aspects of the role will be provided as part of an induction package.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Qualifications/Knowledge
* Range of procedures and practices, majority non-routine, theoretical knowledge to diploma level or equivalent experience
* Knowledge of nursing procedures and practices acquired through NVQ 3 plus additional training to diploma level equivalent, or equivalent through short courses, experience
* NVQ Level 4 in relevant subject or a formal qualification of equivalent level or at least one A level
Experience
* Minimum of 1 year working directly supporting children in Health, Education or Social Care setting
* Experience working with children or young people with significant developmental difficulties or mental health problems
* Experience of working with adolescents
Knowledge
* Understanding of child development and the needs of different age groups
