The Maintenance Technician must provide excellent service and support to both the Production and Production Engineering departments. This role requires both technical aptitude and good behavioral attitude to their work and customer base. Key objectives to include: Recognition of opportunities for improvement or risk reduction within the manufacturing environment. Become competent and proficient in general workshops skills to enable supporting the core departmental activities of plant maintenance, development, and improvement projects. Become competent and proficient in the diagnosis and repair of critical production equipment either as an individual or as part of a team. Do all the above in a safe an efficient manner. Essential Responsibilities: As part of on-going development, the technician has personal responsibility and accountability for self-learning and development, supported by appropriate training and qualifications, identified, and offered by the business. This is to ensure a sound grasp of fundamental engineering principles and development of key skills. Responsible for supporting production regarding ad-hoc requests to ensure an optimum working environment. This is driven principally through the Kaizen system. As directed by the Technical Team Leader, the technician is responsible for providing a rapid response to reactive maintenance calls to ensure minimal production down time. As directed by the Technical Team Leader, the technician is responsible, as part of a team, for maintaining production equipment as per the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) cycles used on critical equipment i.e., CNC machines, presses, and systems. As directed by the business, participate in the late shift working Rota, and support weekend working when requested to enable effective delivery of critical PPM and continued development of knowledge and skills. Through observation and 'on the job learning,' the technician is responsible and accountable for developing their practical skills and knowledge elements within the general engineering workshop environment. This is driven primarily through the departmental training matrices. As skills and competency improve, the technician will assume increased responsibility for machining one-off parts for production or for other project work, plus the repair and maintenance of critical equipment. Responsible and accountable for working as an effective member of a team with the aim of driving improvements in quality, delivery, cost and most importantly health and safety. Share knowledge and best practice. Assist others in their training and development. Adhere, contribute, and constructively challenge departmental processes and procedures in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001 (2015).
