The Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (Oxford BRC) is looking for an experienced Patient and Public Involvement, Engagement and Participation (PPIEP) professional with excellent communication and people skills, someone who is empathetic, confident and with an open mind, experienced in working with senior professionals and the public.
Working closely with the Research Inclusion Senior Manager, Equality Diversity and Research Inclusion Manager and other members of a friendly and supportive team you will form part of the leadership for delivering PPIEP and increasing its effectiveness within the and the Clinical Research Facility (CRF).
You will be responsible for leading the PPIEP training and resources for public contributors and researchers. You will work closely with researchers and public contributors to design and deliver PPIEP training and resources. You will also work closely PPIEP leads across the University of Oxford Medical Sciences Division, collaborating on training programmes, best practice and peer support.
The Oxford BRC/CRF PPIEP Strategy (-) is currently being developed but will build on our existing .The post-holder will develop and lead training for researchers, registered clinical research staff and public contributors.
This is an interesting role, providing opportunities for developing and designing training, working both independently and part of a team.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will develop and deliver inclusive PPIEP training and resources to public contributors and researchers.
Delivering to a diverse range of public contributors, the post-holder will provide support to enable meaningful involvement in health and care research. With a particular focus on under-served communities, the post-holder will advise on appropriate training methods, materials and support for people to be fully involved.
The post-holder will also work closely with academic and clinical researchers at different career stages to ensure a robust understanding and confidence to embed PPIEP in their research. This includes developing and delivering training and resources in the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and how it applies to PPIEP.
The postholder is responsible for ensuring that PPIEP training is delivered collaboratively with partners. They will maintain and develop links and collaborative working with local partners, including the NIHR infrastructure across the region, other BRCs, public contributors and PPIE groups.
The role will also support the Oxford BRC/CRF public involvement groups, including online and in person meetings.
Key relationships will include: patients and public partners, BRC research theme leaders and liaisons (the staff leading and managing the Oxford BRC and CRF), Research Inclusion Senior Manager andAcademic Career Development Manager.
