Job Title: Production Engineer Location: Volution Group plc, Dudley, UK Reports To: Operations Director Hours of work: Monday – Thursday 8am – 4.30pm, Friday 8am – 1.30pm (37.5hrs pw). Who are we? Position Overview: The Production Engineer will support all manufacturing areas with analysis and cost-effective improvements to our production processes helping to support the improvements in efficiencies, elimination of waste, production quality and lead times, along with working to build cross functional links and strong communication channels throughout the departments. Key responsibilities: Identify and implement changes to the business, facilities, and manufacturing systems and processes to improve efficiency, eliminate waste and improve quality and lead times. Proactively define, implement and refine the production processes, layout and facilities, and other sites as needed. Define production processes for new products, including the assembly process, layout, facility, & designing, producing or purchasing tooling & test equipment. Work collaboratively with all departments involved to achieve an effective process; purchasing, manufacturing, R&D, Technical etc. Ensure production processes are safe by design and are being followed, in line with safety regulations and good practice. Investigate advanced manufacturing techniques and technology to recommend investment and changes to production processes. Create production work instructions. Support production to identify skills required to deliver the production processes. Manage the costs for new products during the development phase, through to production startup To assist in the design, installation, repair and procurement of production test equipment Undertake preliminary investigations into quality and technical issues, and assist in the appropriate, implementation corrective actions process Ensure production tooling conforms to the required specifications Own master data relating to production timings in the operating system. Skills & Qualifications: Qualification or degree in an Engineering based discipline (or equivalent) Proven experience in mechanical engineering and electrical engineering Experience in the manufacture of electro mechanical assemblies in high volume environments.
