Job Description:
Are you a confident and safety-focused Contractor and Works Controller seeking a rare opportunity to shape how we deliver contractor management and health and safety compliance across our South East operations? Are you excited by the opportunity to collaborate with a strong engineering team who care about quality, safety, and innovation?
Your role:
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring we meet CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations, reviewing contractor and internal risk assessments, issuing permits, and driving high standards in health and safety culture.
You will take ownership of, influence, and shape systems, develop best practices, and bring new perspectives to a business eager for innovation.
Based mainly at the Port of Sheerness, you will also support Chatham Docks and the Port of Great Yarmouth as needed, likely on an infrequent basis.
What you'll bring:
* A solid background in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
* Knowledge of and experience with Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER, LOLER, and PSSR
* Familiarity with permit to work systems and accident reporting
* Experience in heavy industrial environments such as ports, construction, manufacturing, or maintenance
* IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General/Construction certificate
* Ideally, a CITB SMSTS qualification
