Job Description Mechanical Design Engineer NPI (Group Leader)– Submarines Full time Raynesway/Hybrid (3 days in office minimum) An opportunity has arisen for a Group Leader in the Pumps and Valves New Product Introduction (NPI) group, with Component Engineering. The NPI group deliver work packages that expand the Pumps and Valves product range, primarily through the adoption of new designs as well as develop the existing Pumps and Valves product capabilities. The NPI group is reaching a crucial time in the definition and substantiation of the Mk20 Main Coolant Pump (MCP), requiring: Anglicisation of the Mk20 MCP definition. Pump design basis capture. Substantiation of the Mk20 MCP. Support to Mk20 MCP design Verification and Validation (V&V) and requirements (DOORS) work packages. Support to product design and manufacture capability development. Responsibilities will include: Line managing the engineers in the team (Section Leaders (SLs)), including mid and end of year check-ins. Support to the wellbeing and safety, absence, and performance management of engineers within their group. Responsibility for resolving Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) issues raised by the team. Support to the recruitment of engineers into their group. Responsibility for the onboarding and mentoring of new starters. Delegated accountability for the governance and document approval of work within their group. Responsibility for cost adherence, quality, and delivery of all group outputs. Providing technical and strategic direction on projects in scope. Responsibility for the presence and quality of programme plans (P6 plans) for all key outputs within in their group. Representing the team at technical and non-technical forums, both internally and externally.
