An exciting opportunity hasarisen within the Medicine Division for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individualto join the Renal Admin team at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, as a SupportMedical Secretary working 30 hours per week.
We are looking for a conscientious and adaptable personto work within the service. As part of the team, you will be helping to providean efficient and comprehensive secretarial service to the Acute Kidney Injury(AKI) nursing team, as well as Consultants, Specialty Registrars and nursingteams within Renal Medicine. Experience of providing administrative support isessential.
Previous experience in ahealthcare setting would be advantageous, however, full training will be givenon our in-house IT systems and processes.
Applicants should be able todemonstrate excellent organisational skills, the ability to work on their owninitiative as well as part pf a team along with an ability to prioritise andproblem solve. The role would ideally suit candidates who wish to embark on acareer in healthcare administration and are keen to learn.
Main duties of the job
The role will involve supportingthe AKI nursing team by organising clinic appointments and typing of outpatientclinic letters as well as providing support to the existing Renal admin team ona day-to-day basis with their typing and other correspondence, dealing withenquiries from clinicians, GPs, other hospitals, patients and their relatives,updating medical records as well as data collation and input to support thework of the Midlands Renal Network and the attainment of divisional targets. Inaddition, there is a strong focus on supporting the Directorate Management Teamwith tracking and validation of patient pathways to achieve the national 18week Referral to Treatment (RTT) target.

Job responsibilities
To assist with the sorting of theday to day incoming mail, taking action or referring back to the Senior MedicalSecretary, or nurse, where necessary.
To undertake medical audio/ copytyping duties, including outpatient letters to GPs, discharge summaries andother official correspondence.
To collate and input data accurately and efficiently to support the work of the Midlands Renal Network.
To accept enquiries from clinicians, GPs HealthService and Social Services personnel, other hospitals, voluntary agencies,patients and their relatives. Patientcontact by telephone is an integral part of the basic role. To deal with theseenquiries or refer back to the Senior Medical Secretary where necessary.
To ensure patients are booked into clinics in atimely and efficient manner as directed by the nursing and medical teams, issuing correspondenceand contacting patients when required.
To participate inthe use of the PAS system to establish patient information and produce patientdocumentation as required.
To assist inproviding cover for other secretaries in the Medical Directorate to ensurecontinuity of service to Consultant, medical staff, service users and patients.
To undertake any photocopying and collation asrequired.
To undertake anyother duties as may be required/appropriate by the Senior Secretaries/Directorate Support Manager.

Qualifications
* GCSE English & Maths or equivalent
* Recognised word processing/typing qualification

Experience
* Experience of working in a busy office.

* Use of OASIS PAS system.
* Medical secretarial experience.
Knowledge & Skills
* In-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* Knowledge of NHS systems.
