Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You will work within a division dedicated to maintaining the UK rail network, serving clients such as Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.
Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the Systems Engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrades primarily across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, and similar infrastructure projects. Your role includes overseeing all technical aspects, including survey, design, and technical implementation of SISS systems within a rail environment.
Typical Deliverables
* Extensive experience in system design, surveying, and technical engineering within SISS.
* Potentially leading the development of new product or service ideas and planning for new designs.
* Managing projects from initial design through to production and installation.
* Creating detailed technical plans for concepts and ideas.
* Applying mathematical and scientific skills to develop practical solutions.
* Choosing appropriate materials for construction or product development.
* Forecasting accurate project costs.
* Completing technical and regulatory documentation.
* Ensuring quality control and overseeing system testing, manufacturing, development, and deployment.
Responsibilities
* Maintaining in-depth knowledge of your engineering discipline and basic understanding of related disciplines.
* Organizing testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
* Ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
* Continuously developing personal engineering skills.
* Solving complex problems with innovative perspectives.
* Working independently with minimal guidance.
* Leading projects or activities within broader projects, with accountability for ongoing tasks.
* Mentoring less experienced colleagues.
* Complying with QEHS requirements related to the role.
Skill Requirements
* Previous technical experience in SISS, engineering, design, and surveying.
* Relevant licenses or certifications for the discipline.
* Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other CAD software.
* Knowledge of quality standards, processes, and regulatory requirements.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to work collaboratively and focus on customer needs.
* Problem-solving passion and analytical skills.
