We are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to join our team as Chief X Information Officer (CXIO) and Joint Clinical Safety Officer (CSO). This role is open exclusively to Nursing and Allied Health registered professionals who hold NHS Clinical Safety Practitioner Accreditation.
This dual position is pivotal in driving forward our digital transformation programme while ensuring the highest standards of clinical safety across our services. You will provide strategic leadership in the development of information systems and play a key role in embedding clinical safety into digital health technologies, ensuring our services remain safe, effective, and aligned with national standards.
As CXIO/CSO, you will act as the crucial link between clinical practice and digital innovation, leading the implementation of our Frontline Digital Productivity programme and shaping the organisation’s digital strategy. Your leadership will help ensure that technology is used effectively to deliver high‑quality, safe patient care.

Main duties of the job
As a registered health professional, educated to Master’s level with clinical safety officer certification the postholder will:
1. Oversee the deployment and optimisation of digital health technologies under the Digital Programme, ensuring they support safe, efficient, and patient-centred care.
2. Provide expert advice to senior management and clinical teams on all aspects of clinical engagement and clinical safety, by working in partnership with Digital Services leadership, clinical colleagues, operational management and patient representatives to integrate clinical requirements and safety into the procurement, design and deployment of new digital health technologies.
3. Oversee the clinical risk management process for digital health technologies, ensuring compliance with DCB0129 and DCB0160 standards.
4. Lead on the development and implementation of clinical safety policies, protocols, and procedures.
5. Undertake hazard workshops and work closely with clinical teams to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with clinical information systems.
6. Act as the organisation’s lead for clinical safety incident investigations and root cause analyses, ensuring lessons learned are integrated into practice.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
8. Current professional registration with a regulatory body within Health or Social Care (e.g. Medical, Nursing, Allied Health Professional or Social Care)
9. NHS Clinical Safety Practitioner Accreditation
10. Educated to Master level or equivalent demonstrable experience in a specialist related subject / field
Desirable criteria
11. Current Prince2 Practitioner or relevant project management qualification
12. Membership of APM/IPMA or equivalent
13. Lean Practitioner or equivalent
14. Relevant BCS / SFIA certification at Levels 6/7
15. Relevant health related management qualification
Training
Essential criteria
16. Evidence of CPD education and training
17. Able to undertake further training and development
Desirable criteria
18. Visio, MS Project (or other project management software)
Experience

19. Extensive experience of working at a senior management level [Band 8]
