About The Role
The technician is responsible for carrying out all work to a high standard within this busy municipal workshop facility, ensuring adherence to vehicle maintenance and compliance regulations. The role involves ensuring that all paperwork and Fleet management system entries are completed accurately and promptly, as well as carrying out repairs, maintenance, and servicing of vehicles as required.
Duties and responsibilities
1. Ensure all vehicles booked into the workshop have had all work completed or have been re-booked for re-visit repairs, and are safe to be returned to the customer.
2. Complete all required paperwork for the tasks performed and return documentation to the workshop controller immediately upon completion.
3. Verify that all ordered parts are correct for the work required.
4. Assist other technicians with repairs when needed and support the workshop controller’s duties as required.
5. Fully utilize the fleet management system (Fleetwave) as required.
6. Adhere to SFS Health and Safety policies at all times.
7. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workshop and parking area, ensure vehicles are parked efficiently, keys are kept secure, and walkways are clear.
8. Ensure all equipment used is safe and used for its intended purpose, report any failures to the workshop controller.
9. Attend vehicle breakdowns on-site as required (a workshop vehicle/van will be provided).
10. Ensure vehicles are safe before returning to customers.
11. Develop and maintain professional relationships with SFS staff, customers, and suppliers.
12. Be on standby 24/7 on a weekly basis as needed.
13. Maintain flexibility in work duties to support workshop and customer needs.
About You
Skills
1. A full clean HGV driving license category C is required.
2. Minimum of 5 years’ technical experience on municipal vehicles (e.g., refuse, sweepers).
3. Experience with vehicle electrical systems (12+24 volts), hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
4. Qualifications such as an apprenticeship, VOSA vehicle inspection course, municipal vehicle manufacturing training.
5. Understanding of Health & Safety regulations.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexible hours based on business needs.
