Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Manager to join our team within Vistry North West Midlands, at our Wolverhampton office. As our Technical Manager, you will take the lead on project managing the technical matters relating to projects within the region. You will demonstrate a pro-active approach to design development, working within a team environment from the project's inception through to its completion. You will be tasked with the control of the complete design process involving the management of consultants, liaison with the relevant statutory and local authorities and other internal and external stakeholders as necessary. To ensure the designs complies to all necessary legislation, associated standards and Vistry Group specification, policy, and procedures. Your role requires an excellent base level of Health & Safety, Environmental and Technical knowledge, including a good working knowledge of the Highways & Drainage, Building Regulations, NHBC Standards, Planning, and Affordable Housing.
Responsibilities
* Lead on project managing the technical matters relating to projects within the region.
* Control the complete design process involving management of consultants, liaison with statutory and local authorities and other stakeholders.
* Ensure designs comply with legislation, standards and Vistry Group specifications, policies and procedures.
* Apply Health & Safety, Environmental and Technical knowledge across projects, with a focus on Highways & Drainage, Building Regulations, NHBC Standards, Planning and Affordable Housing.
* Manage in-person collaboration while supporting flexible working where possible; discuss any specific requirements during the interview process.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Full current UK Driving License or equivalent.
* Experience in a technical role at a residential house builder or contractor.
* Good IT literacy with experience of AutoCAD, Outlook, Excel and Word.
* Proven ability in a Technical Coordinator/Manager role delivering design for projects on time, to budget and quality standards with high customer satisfaction.
* Excellent organisation and time management with the ability to multitask.
* Commercial awareness and the ability to make decisions within authority.
* Ability to work as a team member; strong communication with internal staff and external bodies.
* Analytical, methodical, and solution-focused problem solving; strong mathematical ability.
* Ability to design and interpret designs and the technical demands of others.
* Professional appearance and aptitude; commitment to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
* Ability to work under pressure and accept feedback; willing to work extra to meet deadlines as required.
* Educational qualifications: BTEC HND/HNC, Degree or similar in Design, Construction or Civil Engineering; membership of a professional body such as ICE, CIAT, CIOB; Principal Designer and associated Health and Safety training/qualifications; use of Viewpoint drawing management system; proficient use of AutoCAD.
* Management of technical fees and services costs to complete.
