Main duties of the job
The Advanced Nurse Practitioner will need to provide high-quality, patient-focused care through excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning. The role requires confident clinical decision-making, working both independently and collaboratively within the wider multidisciplinary team. The post-holder will demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, maintain high standards of patient safety and confidentiality, and contribute to continuous service improvement. Effective organisation and time management are essential to support a structured and sustainable workload.
About us
We are a small and friendly GP Practice based in Summerlee Medical Centre, serving roughly just over 1800 patients. We have 3 Partners, 1 Chronic Illness Nurse, 1 Practice Nurse, and 1 Health Care Assistant. Our team also includes reception and admin staff.
Job responsibilities
* Triage patient online appointment requests, assessing clinical urgency and ensuring patients are directed to the most appropriate clinician or service.
* Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, including history taking, physical examination, and diagnostic reasoning.
* Diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses in line with clinical guidelines and protocols.
* Prescribe medications independently within scope of practice and formulary.
* Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory and radiology investigations.
* Develop and implement individualised care plans in partnership with patients, including health promotion and disease prevention strategies.
* Provide advanced clinical advice and support to patients and colleagues.
* Maintain accurate and timely patient records using SystmOne.
* Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical governance, and audit activities.
* Engage in continuous professional development and maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge in line with NMC revalidation requirements.
* Support practice initiatives related to service development and quality improvement.
