We have an exciting opportunity for an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer based at Culdrose, Cornwall. The role involves planning, coordinating, directing, and performing engineering assignments related to aircraft, engines, systems, components, and equipment. The focus will be on supporting MAWS and LM-STAR.
LM-STAR is a critical asset ensuring high mission capability rates for complex military platforms, supported by Lockheed Martin’s PBL program that sustains station availability.
MAWS refers to the Merlin Avionics Workshop.
The role will include:
1. Providing 3rd line support engineering. Testing, repairing, and returning parts to the Navy, with prior experience in MAWS essential.
2. Carrying out servicing, repair, integration, testing, and modification of Merlin avionics and associated test systems within workshops, training environments, and on aircraft.
3. Working independently under consultative guidance toward long-term goals.
4. Managing maintenance, repair, overhaul, testing, configuration, calibration, and embodiment of modifications for avionics and test systems, adhering to regulatory governance.
5. Addressing complex technical problems with innovative solutions.
6. Supporting analysis activities to improve product support and asset availability.
7. Acting as MAWS Occupational / Environment / Safety / Health Representative and attending relevant safety meetings.
8. Managing risk assessments, COSHH, SYPOL data sheets, and procurement of related materials.
9. Developing and delivering MAWS training courses and providing ongoing guidance and training to promote personnel development.
10. Liaising with support teams, engineers, and equipment manufacturers on technical issues.
11. Executing primary and secondary avionic engineering tasks supporting LM programs and organizational objectives.
Additional duties include providing deployed engineering support for automated test stations, aircraft, and systems, and serving as SME for retrofit upgrades and support activities.
