Job Title: Technical Manager - Process Engineering - Subject Matter Expert
Location: UK
Purpose of the Role: The Technical Manager will be a key member of the Engineering Management Team, responsible for providing technical leadership and business improvement in a specific area of expertise. The role involves developing proactive relationships with various internal teams and external clients, supporting strategic engineering objectives, and driving initiatives that benefit the organization.
Key Accountabilities:
* Drive strategic initiatives proactively, adding value to Galliford Try.
* Respond to business challenges requiring expert attention.
* Provide specialist advice and assurance on discipline-specific principles.
* Train and develop engineers within your discipline.
* Communicate ideas effectively to stakeholders, clients, and colleagues.
* Ensure compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
* Support technical governance and assurance activities.
* Act as an internal disruptor and innovator, seeking industry advancements.
* Support external consultancy development as an SME.
* Engage with clients on technical leadership.
* Assist in work winning and develop industry networks.
* Maintain recognition in your area of expertise.
* Commit to personal development.
* Develop and manage relationships across teams.
* Ensure compliance with management systems and strategies, including sustainability and safety policies.
About You:
* Subject Matter Expert in a key engineering area.
* Experience managing design functions internally and externally.
* Ability to promote best practices and innovation.
* Leadership skills to support design teams and initiatives.
* Critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
* Ability to prioritize in challenging environments.
* Commercial awareness.
* Strong communication skills in writing and presentations.
* Engineering background with knowledge of design and delivery.
* Design and/or Project Management experience, ideally in Water industry.
* Degree in Engineering or relevant STEM qualification; professional membership is an advantage.
* Experience with digital technologies in construction.
* Proficient in MS Office.
