Main duties of the job
1. Work under the direction of senior staff to deliver and improve offender healthcare services within the inpatient unit.
2. Provide mental health and physical health care based on timely, comprehensive assessment and evidence-based practice.
3. Reduce or mitigate the effects of unhealthy or high-risk behaviors (ACCT).
4. Promote effective links with community health and related services to ensure continuity of care (Care Program Approach, CPA).

Applicants must provide proof of right to work, ID (including a photographic ID), address documentation, and, if applicable, additional certificates for overseas residence or criminal record checks as detailed.
The post holder will work as part of a 24-hour multidisciplinary team, managing a single referral pathway, and undertaking training to maximize health promotion, screening, and prevention activities.
They will ensure care plans are developed, regularly reviewed, and tailored to patient needs, including risk assessments, MDT meetings, and evidence-based interventions such as CBT.
The role involves supporting patients to manage their health across various conditions, embedding health promotion into all aspects of the service.

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge
* Risk assessment and care planning skills
* Understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983 and related legislation
* Experience in assessment, triage, and care planning for complex cases
* Ability to work in challenging environments
* Effective communication of sensitive information
* Knowledge of models like the 6 Cs of nursing
* Experience in secure environments (prisons/forensic services)
* Compassionate approach to care
* Experience in hospital or community nursing
* Familiarity with NHS or healthcare databases
