We are delighted to be recruiting a Catering Director to lead the food and hospitality services across Eastbourne College and St Andrew’s Prep, two prestigious co-educational independent schools in East Sussex.
This is a five-over-seven operation, offering a sustainable work-life balance, ideal for someone who understands school life rhythms and is committed to service excellence throughout the week. We seek a hands-on, strategic leader who understands the full scope of the operation and can use insights to shape and grow the catering offering.

Job Description
As our Catering Director, your focus is to work closely with your teams to develop strong working relationships and provide the best customer service.
You should have excellent presentation, organisational, and communication skills, a passion for food and service, and enthusiasm.
* Collaborate with the back-of-house team to develop well-balanced, nutritious menus catering to diverse dietary needs.
* Manage the catering budget to ensure cost-effective operations while maintaining quality standards.
* Build strong relationships with school Bursars, Head Teachers, and faculty.
* Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate catering staff.
* Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and quality protocols.
* Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and operational improvement.
* Maintain health and safety standards, ensuring a clean, organized kitchen environment.
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a senior Catering Director in a high-volume, quality-focused environment.
* Experience managing, training, and supporting a team.
* Financial acumen, with skills in budgeting and driving performance.
* Strong coaching, delegation, and influencing skills.
* Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, creative environment.
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
