Electrical Engineer - | Port Glasgow | £45,000 - £50,000 + Bonus
MRD Recruitment is delighted to be working with a leading global manufacturing business to recruit an Electrical Engineer. This is a permanent, site-based role located in Port Glasgow, reporting into the Site Engineering Lead.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and innovative organisation that offers excellent training and development. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and improving electrical systems across a complex, fast-paced manufacturing site.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain and fault-find on a wide range of electrical plant and equipment including lighting, fire detection, HVAC, UPS, and power systems
* Ensure site-wide compliance with electrical safety standards and regulations (IET Wiring Regs, HSE guidance, etc.)
* Work with internal teams and contractors to manage installation, maintenance, and repair projects
* Support and maintain reliability of PLC and automation systems (vendor-managed)
* Act as or train towards becoming the site's High Voltage Authorised Person (HVAP)
* Manage and issue permits to work, ensuring all activities are properly controlled and documented
* Interpret and update electrical drawings and schematics as required
* Participate in disaster recovery planning for automation systems
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Degree, HND or HNC in Electrical Engineering (or related field)
* Understanding of electrical distribution systems and building services equipment
* Experience or willingness to train as a High Voltage Authorised Person
* Knowledge of 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work across teams and external contractors
Desirable (but not essential):
* C&G 6037 HV Systems Operations
* Experience in project management
* Familiarity with Permit to Work systems
* Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment
