This role is part of HMRC Valuation Office, formerly known as the Valuation Office Agency. We have recently integrated into HMRC. As we continue the transition to our updated HMRC branding, you may still see some VOA logos or references in our advertisements for a temporary period.

HMRC Valuation Office are the public sector’s property valuation experts and advisers with a vision to be a world-leading provider of public sector valuations. Our work is vital to the collection of over £60 billion of revenue which goes back into communities, touching every citizen and every business across England and Wales.

We are continuing to grow the geospatial data capability to improve geospatial services for property valuers and support wider business transformation. The Geospatial Data Analyst will play a key role in the analysis, updating and refinement of geospatial data, with responsibility for ensuring its accuracy and quality. This will include activities such as correcting errors, adding new data and sharing knowledge with others.

The role sits within the Information, Data & Analysis directorate within HMRC Valuation Office and works with customers from across the business.


Key responsibilities

* Work with geospatial data throughout the full data lifecycle, including sourcing, licensing and publishing data.
* Create, prepare and process data, including the development of automated workflows and bespoke visualisations.
* Undertake data analysis with a focus on geospatial data.
* Contribute to the metadata and technical documentation of data, processes and workflows.
* Apply data standards and carry out quality assurance checks on geospatial products, including completeness and topological integrity.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to understand their geospatial requirements and support knowledge transfer.
