We are seeking an experienced Versatile Technical Services Manager - M&E Specialist to lead the mechanical and electrical services design for a major hospital refurbishment project for a building and construction company. This role is integral to the transformation of the ground floor and basement levels, incorporating the development of a new MRI suite and a state-of-the-art nuclear medicine facility.\n\nProject Scope Includes:\n\nMechanical Services:\n\nChilled Water (CHW)\nLow Temperature Hot Water (LTHW)\nMechanical Ventilation\nBuilding Management Systems (BMS)\nComfort Cooling\nQuench Pipes (MRI)\nPublic Health Systems\nMedical Gas SystemsElectrical Services:\n\nLow Voltage (LV) Systems\nExtra-Low Voltage (ELV) Systems including:\nData Infrastructure\nNurse Call Systems\nFire Alarm Systems\nFireman's Switches\nMFSD Control Systems\nSecurity and CCTVRole Overview:\n\nThis is a hybrid role, based in St. Albans, with regular site visits to Earls Court and meetings at design consultants' offices as required.
You will be responsible for the management and coordination of M&E services design across all RIBA stages from Stage 3 to Stage 6.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nManage the full design process for M&E services in conjunction with architectural and structural teams.\nLead the design team, ensuring compliance with Employer's Requirements (ERs).\nCoordinate and participate in site surveys alongside design consultants.\nOrganise and manage design meetings, including agendas, minutes, and tracking programmes.\nCollaborate with designers to identify value engineering opportunities.\nManage and track design information from specialist suppliers.\nReview and coordinate drawing submissions and approvals within the project management system.\nSupport procurement and delivery planning in partnership with the internal management team.\nLead on commissioning activities and phased project handovers, including quality assurance of installed works and preparation of O&M/H&S documentation.\nEnsure the client's PC checklist requirements are fulfilled.\nDeliver consistent and comprehensive reporting on design, procurement, commissioning, and handover progress.Qualifications & Experience:\n\nStrong background in M&E design management on complex healthcare or similar technical projects.\nProven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage consultant relationships.\nKnowledge of hospital-specific building services systems is essential.\nFamiliarity with RIBA stages, commissioning, and compliance reportingIf you are interested in the Versatile Technical Services Manager - M&E Specialist role, contact Ollie at (phone number removed)
