Pay: £101.40 – £105 per day
Schedule: Term-time only, Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 15:45
Trial days: In last week of the Summer term and first week of September

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

1. Work with pupils who have a range of additional needs, including autism (ranging from low to high support), Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), and speech and language communication differences

2. Support children and young people who may be at risk of exclusion, disengagement from education, or future involvement with the youth justice system

3. Use neurodiversity-informed practices to help reduce anxiety, build structure and routine, and develop communication and emotional regulation skills

4. Encourage emotional resilience, self-awareness, and positive peer relationships

5. Be a consistent, trusted adult within a trauma-informed school setting

This role is particularly suited to graduates exploring careers in:

6. Youth Justice or Probation Services

7. Educational or Behavioural Psychology

8. Social Work or Family Support Services

9. Prison, Court, or Community Rehabilitation Work

Key Responsibilities:

10. Deliver 1:1 and small group support for learners with special educational needs (SEN), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and autistic spectrum conditions

11. Implement tailored behaviour and sensory regulation strategies, considering individual neurocognitive profiles

12. Contribute to personalised learning plans that address emotional and educational development

13. Support the development of pupils’ executive functioning, social communication, and life skills

14. Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and families to track progress and adapt interventions as needed

15. Receive full training in relational behaviour support and de-escalation strategies

Person Specification – What We’re Looking For:

16. Graduates in Criminology, Psychology, Education, Social Sciences, or related fields

17. Aspiring professionals in social justice, youth support, safeguarding, or rehabilitation

18. Empathetic, non-judgmental communicators with a keen interest in inclusion and neurodiversity

19. Open-minded individuals willing to learn about autistic identity, sensory needs, and non-verbal communication

20. Prior experience in education, care, or youth settings is welcome but not essential

You will need:

21. A positive, adaptable, and resilient mindset

22. The ability to build rapport and trust quickly

23. An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
