This is a rare opportunity for a qualified teacher to join the team in the Learning Development Centre (LDC) at Brockhurst and Marslston House Schools. You will be supporting the SENCo is this busy department and have experience in teaching pupils with SpLDs. You must have a teaching qualification and in addition a SpLD teaching qualification (Level 5) or willingness to work towards this.

You will be responsible for supporting the SENCo in the running of the Learning Development Centre, which encompasses managing the provision for pupils identified as having Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND);
As part of the team you will help ensure the smooth and professional running of the school. You will be expected to present yourself in a professional manner at all times and comply with all requests to keep updated with Department for Education and ISI legal safeguarding updates.
Main responsibilities (this job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. The post-holder may perform other related duties as required):
Supporting the SENCo
* Be a point of contact for staff and pupils of students with SEND
* Assist the SENCo in leading the provision for SEND
* Assist the SENCo in liaising with outside professionals such as the Educational Psychologist, Occupational Therapist and Speech and Language Therapist.
* Assist with managing teaching assistant staff.
* Observe pupils in class
* Assist with the necessary preparation of EHCPs, Annual reviews and MOD applications for funding.
* Keep the SEND register up to date.
* Assist with timetabling.
* Deputise for the SENCo, as appropriate.
Teaching
* To plan, prepare and teach lessons according to the educational needs of pupils assigned to you and to work closely as part of the staff team.
* To help assess record and report on the development, progress and attainment of the pupils assigned to you within the guidelines written in the School Policies.
* To promote and facilitate the general progress and well-being of individual pupils within any group of pupils assigned to you, providing guidance and advice on educational and social matters.
* To participate in meetings and other activities, both within and out of School, which provide opportunities both for the exchange of views and for other forms of professional development according to the requirements of the LDC.
* To carry out administrative tasks and duties as required by the department.
* To participate fully in the school's consultative procedure ensuring an effective communication system.
* To attend parents' evenings, inset days and open mornings and all special events as required.
* Maintain a clean and tidy classroom including refreshing displays.
