The Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Branch Organiser/Caseworker to join our team. This is a vital role supporting our members through individual and group representation, casework, and advocacy. You will undertake a range of organising activities, bringing experience and skill, assisting the branch to recruit, map membership density, develop new activists and drive forward our campaigning work. You’ll work closely with branch activists, members, and regional/national UNISON staff, helping to uphold workers’ rights and improve workplace conditions.
You will need to be able to travel within the geographical location of Richmond and Wandsworth and on occasions elsewhere for meetings/training as required. You will be required to live within reasonable travelling distance of the area you are asked to cover.
Key Responsibilities
1. Represent members in grievance, disciplinary, and capability cases.
2. Provide advice and support on a wide range of employment issues.
3. Manage and maintain the branch’s case management systems
4. Respond to member enquiries via phone, email, and in person.
5. Coordinate and support branch meetings and communications.
6. Ensure data security and GDPR compliance.
7. Build strong relationships with members, reps, and employers.
What We’re Looking For
8. Proven experience in trade union casework and representation.
9. Strong understanding of employment law and trade union principles.
10. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and time management skills.
11. Excellent administrative and organisational ability.
12. Ability to manage sensitive and complex cases with empathy and discretion.
13. Proficiency in MS Copilot 365, Teams, Zoom, and cloud-based systems.
