About the role
Health NZ Waitaha Canterbury is seeking an experienced Ward Clerk to join our Administration team at Te Awakura, Hillmorton Hospital. This facility provides acute inpatient care for adult consumers of our Mental Health system requiring inpatient services. The successful candidate will work closely with interdisciplinary staff, demonstrating sound knowledge of English and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in the mental health sector is desirable but not essential.
Our ideal candidate will have proven customer service skills, effective communication, and the ability to show initiative and flexibility to cover clerical functions. A compassionate and patient nature is essential. This role has been mapped to National Band 3 / Profile 3 as part of the Administration and Clerical Pay Equity Claim settlement. Responsibilities
1. Perform general clerical and administrative tasks
2. Enter information into the patient management system
3. Answer phones and greet visitors
4. Deliver excellent customer service
5. Maintain accurate filing of clinical notes and patient files
You should be accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks as needed.
Skills and experience
* Excellent interpersonal skills to relate to patients, whānau, and staff
* Attention to detail
* Organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
* Experience with Patient Management Systems (desirable)
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
* Ability to learn new systems and technologies
* Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
