Job overview

We are recruiting for a Nurse Team Manager - Elderly Care who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The Nurse Team Manager will have overall responsibility for the operational management of clinical service delivery at ward level.

They provide specialist Care of the Elderly (COE) nursing care and expertise, both in delivering direct patient care and in support of other staff caring for the higher needs and dependency of our COE patients.

Main duties of the job

As the Nurse Team Manager, you will act as a role model for nursing excellence whilst ensuring the highest standards of safe, effective and compassionate care.

You will be expected to lead, support and develop the ward nursing team promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

The post holder will also show ability to manage resources effectively and ensure safe staffing levels are managed efficiently.

You will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver excellent patient outcomes and take responsibility for clinical governance and quality improvements.

Qualifications / Training


Essential criteria

* Registered nurse on part 1 or part 12 of the NMC register
* Mentorship & Assessor course- ENB 998 or equivalent


Desirable criteria

* Evidence of professional development and commitment to lifelong learning and to produce personal professional portfolio
* Leadership course post registration course


Previous Experience


Essential criteria

* Significant Post registration experience in the hospital setting
* Responsibility for management of staff
* Recent experience at band 7


Desirable criteria

* Relevant experience at Band 6 or equivalent within acute setting
* Significant experience and demonstrable knowledge of caring for complex medical patients.
* Demonstrate change management within team
* Budget management


Skills


Essential criteria

* Evidence of team management skills
* Utilisation of teaching skills
* Experience of Human resource issues relating to staff
* Evidence of excellent communication skills
* Ability to direct and work within a team
* Advanced organisational skills


Desirable criteria

* Evidence of involvement in audit and change processes related to audit
* Computer literacy
* Ability to lead and manage change Negotiation skills


Knowledge


Essential criteria

* Wide knowledge of specialty and common general medical conditions and their management
* Good understanding of professional nursing issues
* Understanding of skill mix and workload patterns
* Awareness of health and safety legislation
* Awareness of clinical governance issues
