Mid Sussex Marlins Swimming Club based in West Sussex is seeking a passionate and motivated Junior Performance Swimming Coachto join our dedicated coaching team. You will be responsible for coaching and developing swimmers at county and regional levels, with the ambition of progressing them to national standards. You will work closely with the Head Coach and other team members to implement effective training programmes, ensuring that each swimmer reaches their full potential. This role requires a strong understanding of the sport’s technical, physiological, and psychological foundations. Additionally, you must have the ability to effectively coach junior-level swimmers, ensuring their development and progression within the sport.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver high-quality training sessions for swimmers at county and regional levels, aiming for national qualification.
* Develop swimmers’ technical skills, race strategies, and overall performance through structured coaching methods.
* Monitor swimmers’ progress, providing regular feedback and individual development plans.
* Work closely with the Head Coach to align training programmes with the club’s performance pathway.
* Assist in the preparation and coaching of swimmers at competitions, offering support, race feedback, and motivation.
* Assist in team selection for Sussex Leagueand Arena Leaguecompetitions.
* Maintain accurate records of swimmer progress and attendance.
* Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, and club management via email and in person.
* Stay updated on the latest coaching techniques and developments within the sport.
* Be punctual, adaptive, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
* Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate/ASA Level 2 Coaching Award(or equivalent).
* Strong understanding of Wavepowerin relation to safeguardingand swimming performance.
* Proven experience coaching swimmers at county and regional levels.
* A solid grasp of swimming’s technical, physiological, and psychologicalfoundations.
* Strong knowledge of safeguardingand child welfare responsibilities.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to effectively coach junior-level swimmers.
* A proactive, enthusiastic, and team-oriented approach to coaching.
* Weekend availabilityfor open meets.
* Experience coaching swimmers towards national levelcompetitions.
* A commitment to continuous professional development and learning.
* Ability to drive and access to a car.
* Understanding of Swim Manager admin system.
Hours:
* 23 hours per week, including administrative tasks.
* Evening and weekend coaching required, including attendance at competitions.
