We are seeking an experienced
Mechanical Design Engineer
with strong design and analysis capabilities to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role, offering opportunities to take ownership of projects from concept through to manufacture, while contributing to innovation, product development, and technical leadership within the business.
This is
not a graduate role
unless significant industrial experience has been achieved.
You will be need to be based at our Trecwn, Pembrokeshire HQ.
Required Knowledge & Skills (Desirable, not all essential)
* Experience:
~5 years in industry with extensive understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
* Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, or related discipline.
* CAD:
Proficiency with an industry-standard CAD package (SolidWorks preferred).
* Industry background:
Automotive, commercial vehicles, or heavy industry equipment experience desirable.
* Project leadership:
Proven ability to lead and deliver work packages independently.
* Product development:
Experience in design, validation, and release of engineered products.
* Design skills:
Ability to design from first principles, including hand calculations and basic analysis (mechanical, structural, or electrical systems). The correct application and understanding of GD&T.
* Engineering standards:
Awareness of industry regulations and ability to apply them to design work.
* FEA & CFD:
The ability to utilise FEA packages both inside of 3D modelling software and with the use of Ansys is highly advantageous and a basic understanding of computational fluid dynamics in Ansys is Desirable.
* Other:
Full UK driving licence and own vehicle.
Roles & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will:
* Lead and take ownership of work packages from concept through to manufacture, including design specifications, customer interaction, and project management.
* Deliver high-quality product designs with consideration for manufacturability, safety, cost, and performance.
* Conduct and support FMEA activities.
* Support and mentor apprentices as part of our apprenticeship scheme.
* Collaborate with the manufacturing team and support shop floor activities when required.
* Drive compliance with quality, health & safety, and environmental standards.
* Manage and monitor engineering change notifications and corrective action processes.
* Develop and execute test and development plans.
* Contribute to the development of new innovations and continuous improvement.
