Job Description:

Bricklaying Instructor

37 hours per week, based in Preston

£30,422.91 per annum

Who are Preston Vocational Centre (PVC)?

PVC was established in 2009, becoming part of the Community Gateway Association (CGA) Group as its charitable subsidiary in 2013. Since 2009, we've welcomed over 7000 learners through our doors, helping them re-engage with education and reach their potential. We deliver City and Guilds construction qualifications at Level 1.

What would I be doing in this role?

You'll be teaching bricklaying to a wide range of learners including 14-16 year olds, post-16 and adults at our construction training centre. If you don't already have a teaching / assessing qualification, we will support you to gain this whilst you're employed, providing funding and support.

What we are looking for:

* You'll have a NVQ L3 or equivalent qualification in bricklaying - knowledge of other trade areas is a bonus.
* You'll have experience of working with young people and be able to form positive working relationships. This experience might have been gained via training apprentices on-the-job or through voluntary work.
* You'll have experience of working in the construction industry with a good understanding of health and safety relating to construction roles.
* You'll have the ability to inspire learners and engage them in vocational education, encouraging them to reach their potential.
* You'll safeguard and promote the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults at all times and in all aspects of your work.

It would be great if you also had:

* Previous teaching or assessing experience

Freddie spoke to budding cricketer and PVC learner, Sean Dunderdale, as part of his aim to show young people from different backgrounds that they can succeed in the sport.

You can watch Sean's chat with Freddie on YouTube here.

PVC is committed to safeguarding young people and protecting them from harm and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment. We recognise the importance of creating a safe environment for all children and young people we work with. As part of our commitment, the successful candidate will be thoroughly vetted and required to have a satisfactory Enhanced DBS Check (including children's barred list).
