Our onboarding process includes a friendly conversation, and all our engineers must have their own insurance and have their equipment calibrated at least once a year. In return, we provide an engineer handbook, a contract for services, branded clothing, labels, and technical support.

Job Description
JR PAT Testing is an expanding PAT and compliance company currently looking for engineers to join our team in Carlisle. We offer self‑employed positions with flexible hours, allowing interested individuals to work either part‑time or full‑time. Although we understand that some may travel further afield, all applicants must be able to commute reasonably to Carlisle.
The role offers potential earnings on a pro‑rata basis depending on the rate per appliance, the number of tests and job dynamics. Projects range from one‑day jobs to long‑term contracts, allowing us to discuss all details and determine what works best for you.
Responsibilities
* Travel to a variety of sites (hospitals, retail outlets, offices, etc.) to conduct Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).
* Pack and maintain all necessary tools and equipment, including testers, record books, and safety gear.
* Perform PAT on appliances such as microwaves, kettles, computers, and other electrical items to determine safety and compliance.
* Provide clear, written reports of test results, complete completion certificates and checklists, and advise users on any unfit appliances.
* Maintain accurate records in a dedicated PAT test report book or electronic system.
* Stay organised and ensure all testing is completed efficiently and accurately, whether working alone or as part of a team.
Qualifications
To apply, you must hold a City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or an equivalent, be reliable, honest, and have a ‘can‑do’ attitude. All necessary equipment, including testing instruments, measuring devices, and additional tools, must be kept up‑to‑date, in good working order, and meet relevant regulations.
