Part of a major international group, this manufacturing organisation is investing in its Midland factory and is seeking an additional Project Engineer to plan and oversee the design and commissioning of significant capital projects.
Project Manager – Capital Equipment / Manufacturing
Salary: £50,000
Location: West Midlands (commutable from Telford, Kidderminster, Shrewsbury, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Stourbridge)
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of several capital projects to improve productivity or safety throughout the factory.
1. Lead the management of designated projects, delivering objectives including revenue, timing, and deliverables, from conception to completion, escalating issues as they arise.
2. Support initial feasibility reviews, validation of quotations, and development of project budgets and timelines for plant-based activities.
3. Involved in the initial specification of project-related equipment (e.g., extraction/filtration systems, material handling, cranes, factory layouts, M&E, CDM, civils).
4. Achieve programme deliverables, project cost, and timing progress reporting (internal & external).
5. Follow business processes to ensure programme delivery and identify areas for improvement. Manage scope changes via change management.
Experience:
You should have significant experience working as a Project Engineer or Project Manager within the manufacturing industry or with capital equipment systems vendors.
* Proven ability to conduct high-level customer interactions and communication.
* Experience setting up development plans from concept to production, with KPIs, timing, and cost management.
* Budget control experience (£0.5 – 2 million).
* Successful project delivery of manufacturing CapEx projects, ideally internationally.
* Mechanical Engineering background with a good understanding of factory/production environments and familiarity with CDM regulations.
* Analytical skills, good judgment, commercial acumen, and problem-solving abilities.
* Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
* Structured approach with good time management and project management skills.
