Northumberland County Council would like to recruit an enthusiastic, well-motivated Education Welfare Support Officer - SEN. The core role will be working with children, families and schools to promote inclusion and improved attendance. Initially the post holder will be based at the Northumberland Education Engagement Hub and will have a caseload of children who can't attend school due to their health needs.
Education Welfare is based within the Virtual school and works to ensure that the Local Authoritys statutory duties and other responsibilities for safeguarding children in relation to school attendance, elective home education, children missing education, child employment and performance licencing are carried out to the highest possible standard.Work is undertaken on behalf of children in partnership with their parents, schools, alternative providers and other professionals to enable each pupil the maximum opportunity to benefit from their educational entitlement. Work is also undertaken at a whole school level to support schools in their policy and practice towards improving attendance.
You should have a good general standard of education, experience of working in an education or social care setting. The successful applicant will be expected to work term time plus 10 days
