Job Summary

Please note salary will be pro-rated for part-time hours.

East Dunbartonshire Council’s Housing Service has an exciting opportunity to recruit a Part-Time Sheltered Housing Warden to join our existing team to help promote the wellbeing and independence of Tenants living in sheltered housing located in Bearsden.

The postholder will have responsibility on a day to day basis for the security and cleanliness of the complex common room, office space and its contents including the operation of a dispersed community alarm system. As a keyholder, responsibility includes ensuring the safety and wellbeing of individuals and liaison with the Housing service where required. You will act as a facilitator for services e.g. Doctors, Nurses, Homecare staff and with the Council’s Telecare provider where necessary.

Housing is seeking a motivated individual that is keen to improve the tenant’s experience of sheltered housing by keeping up to date with and promoting local community events and social activities such as lunch clubs. To provide an activity programme that aims to tackle isolation, promote healthy living and encourage use of the communal facilities.

Essential experience:

* Experience of working in a Housing Support setting or equivalent
* Contribution to the development of service planning and delivery
* Experience of working with older people.
* Experience of working within a care setting.
* Experience of dealing with other agencies
* Knowledge across all role accountabilities gained through experience
* Experience of key activities of the role

Educated to Standard Grade or equivalent, you should also be familiar with relevant Council policies and procedures and legislative guidelines e.g. Adult and Child Protection, Health and Safety and risk assessments, confidentiality and data protection.

Charter of Commitment

The commitment by East Dunbartonshire Council to job applicants is as follows:

PVG / Disclosure Scotland

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria.

Where the post you are applying for is considered a Regulated Role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.

Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment. Successful candidates who withdraw their application after the check process has started will be invoiced for the cost of the check.

In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by the HR &OD Manager.

Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.

The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
