Responsibilities
* Lead and direct a multi‑disciplinary engineering team to identify the feasibility of the approach
* Develop an outline requirement specification
* Identify the TRL levels and associated development plans to deliver a viable solution
* Prepare a plan for the delivery of the appraisal and select phase of the project. Deliver to the agreed time, cost and quality
* Lead the multidiscipline teams, responsible for estimating, scheduling, forecasting and the production of the agreed design deliverables
* Manage the DSA teams in production of deliverables
* Develop the safety case(s), including attendance at HAZOPs, support to safety assessment, review of ES, and production of substantiation documentation
* Identify additional resource demand where required to ensure all deliverables can be originated and checked in accordance with the project schedule
* Interface with other Project Discipline leads within the project(s)
* Interface and engage with Site clients and stakeholders
Qualifications
* Background in engineering, demonstrating a record of successful delivery including recent leadership roles guiding technical personnel
* Significant experience in an engineering design environment with strong technical knowledge
* Recent experience working within a regulated and quality‑assured system (preferably nuclear), where professional engineering judgment is key
* Knowledge and understanding of governing laws, regulations, and standards for the nuclear industry (equivalent experience in other industries will be considered):
* Health & Safety at Work Act
* The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
* Safety of Machinery, CDM, LOLER, Pressure Systems, DSEAR, Ionising Radiation
Identification of Technological Readiness Levels and development of technology development plans
