Ideal Employment are currently recruiting for a maintenance engineer for one of our clients based in Dudley. Job Purpose To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of electrical systems within, preventing and resolving electrical issues to minimise downtime and maintain optimal productivity Key Responsibilites and Tasks Maintain and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures Inspect and test electrical systems and components Perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs of electrical equipment; install and control electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems; understand and follow safety procedures and policies Replace and repair electrical wiring Identify and test electrical components Install and maintain electrical equipment To wear and use personal protective equipment at all timed. To adhere strictly to the company safety regulations and codes of safe working practice at all times. To carry our scheduled preventative maintenance checks and procedures and record and report any adverse signed, symptoms or trends. To undertake allocated maintenance activities. To respond to and assist with emergency/breakdown situations on any item of plant or equipment as necessary. To carry out diagnostic checks of faulty plant and equipment and strip down, replace/repair and re-assemble as necessary. To correctly interpret electrical drawings and work from hand sketched and verbal instructions to carry out repairs and maintenance. T o maintain adequate stocks or materials, parts and equipment to fulfil maintenance duties. To use hand tools and equipment correctly and safely for carrying our maintenance activities. To use measuring equipment and instruments for installation or modification of plant and equipment and for calibration of plant, equipment and controls as necessary. To correctly and safely use lifting equipment for handling materials component and items of plant and equipment. To use the correct handling techniques when handling materials and equipment. To co-operate with departmental colleagues on all aspects of departmental activities and practical/technical problem solving. T o ensure the secure, safe storage of materials and equipment at all timed. To report any malfunctions of the equipment to the works engineer (electrical) To act in accordance with instructions from the department supervisor and works engineer (electrical) and use own initiative for action as appropriate. To report any hazardous procedures/malpractices or unsafe actions/activities to the department supervisor, works engineer (electrical) or manager as appropriate. To maintain the work area in a clean, tidy and safe condition at all times.
