License/Certification Requirements: Valid MN Driver’s License, current insurance or be insurable.
Summary: Responsible for providing clinical consultation and direction to mental health practitioners who will be providing phone, face-to-face assessment, intervention, and stabilization to both adults and children who reside on the Leech Lake Reservation and are experiencing a mental health crisis/emergency. The MHP provides provisional diagnoses, recommendations, and oversight of the interventions offered by the mental health practitioner. The MHP may occasionally be responsible for providing face-to-face services as needed. Other tasks include providing culturally observant referrals and treatment plan oversight.
Education Requirements and Experience:
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, Counseling, or Social Work, and three (3) years’ experience in the mental health field.
Must be a Licensed Psychologist (LP), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). Crisis Response Experience is strongly preferred.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Native American preference.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of Native American demographics, culture, and traditions.
Computer literacy, including reporting data based on crisis responses.
Pre-employment drug testing is mandatory for all Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe positions and Behavioral Health positions.
Good customer service skills.
Supervisory Duties: Responsible for providing clinical consultation and direction to Crisis Response practitioners and team members.
Duties/Responsibilities:
* Provide clinical consultation to mental health practitioners, including provisional diagnoses, recommendations, and oversight of interventions.
* Be available to mental health practitioners responding to crises/emergencies.
* Provide immediate response to mental health crises/emergencies on the Leech Lake Reservation for adults and children as needed.
* Complete MHP consultation reports for each consultation.
* Sign all documentation completed by mental health practitioners/rehab workers.
* Abide by confidentiality, mandated reporting, and HIPAA regulations.
* Attend crisis response team meetings and clinical supervision as scheduled.
* Coordinate crisis calls with team members, ensuring shift change communication.
* Provide education on interventions, including supportive counseling and traditional cultural interventions when appropriate.
* Complete annual CEU trainings and attend mandatory meetings.
* Ensure availability during scheduled shifts and maintain electronic equipment.
* Report data and summaries related to clients served in crisis situations.
* Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, presenting client data and recommendations.
* Follow grant and Minnesota statute documentation requirements, ensuring timely completion.
* Ensure follow-up on events and adherence to treatment plans.
* Review client history, including medical, family background, and environment.
* Refer clients to cultural resources, request ceremonies, and encourage traditional healing practices.
* Contribute to scheduling on the crisis calendar for on-call practitioners.
* Complete third-party billing and documentation, demonstrating understanding and sensitivity to Native American culture.
* Adhere to staff conduct policies and perform other related duties as assigned.
* Collaborate with the Crisis Response Team, participate in client consultations, staffing, and discharge planning, and provide follow-up as needed.
* Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.
* Attend program activities outside normal hours as necessary.
* Meet deadlines and prioritize workload effectively.
* Travel in and out of state as required.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs using proper lifting techniques.
