Job Overview
If you are passionate about transforming young lives through physical activity and sport, we are keen to hear from you.
As our School Games Organiser and School Sport Coordinator, you will be at the heart of shaping inclusive, high-quality sporting opportunities across the schools. You will drive participation in school games and coordinate a vibrant calendar of events that energise students and empower teachers.
This is a great opportunity to champion equality, foster lifelong healthy habits, and build a legacy of sporting excellence in your community.
Role
This is a part-time role for 26 hours per week, term-time only (plus 4 weeks), and the hours will be split as follows:
* School Games Organiser – 18 hours per week
* School Sport Coordinator – 8 hours per week (split evenly between Beacon Academy and Uplands Academy)
The School Games Organiser contract is fixed term for six months, and the School Sport Coordinator role is fixed term for one year. These may be extended subject to funding.
The role currently encompasses two key components, but these may be divided into separate positions should that better suit individual preferences.
Flexibility to work from home requests will be considered at a later date.
Beacon Academy is a split-site, semi-rural, mixed 11–18 non-selective converter academy with approximately 1,664 students, including over 320 students in our Sixth Form. We are situated centrally in Crowborough on the outskirts of the Ashdown Forest, an area of outstanding natural beauty. We are close to Tunbridge Wells and the South Coast. The vast majority of our staff travel to Beacon from a variety of locations within the southeast, including Brighton, Eastbourne, Lewes and Tunbridge Wells.
In September 2022, Beacon Academy, together with Uplands Academy in Wadhurst, became a member of the MARK Education Trust (formerly Beacon Community College Academy Trust). The acronym MARK was selected because staff who work in the Trust are motivated, ambitious, resourceful, and knowledgeable. This partnership provides many exciting opportunities for professional development and the sharing of good practice across the two schools.
We work meticulously to secure a culture of unapologetically high expectations that are underpinned by our collective, uncompromising belief and ambition for our students and for the experienced, loyal, highly skilled and highly effective team of staff that teach them, allowing teachers to teach and students to learn. MARK Education Trust is committed to the development of both its staff and students.
