Role Overview:
As a Day-to-Day SEN Supply Teacher, you will work within a variety of Specialist Schools (SLD, MLD, ASD, and SEMH) and Alternative Provisions across Birmingham. This role offers the flexibility to choose your schedule while making a profound impact on students with diverse learning needs. Whether you are covering a class in a dedicated SEN school or a resource base within a primary setting, our Guaranteed Work Scheme ensures your income remains consistent.
Key Responsibilities:
Adaptive Delivery: Delivering pre-planned lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of students with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans).
Therapeutic Support: Utilizing de-escalation techniques and positive behavior support (PBS) to maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.
Multi-Sensory Engagement: Facilitating learning through sensory-based activities, PECS, Makaton, or other alternative communication methods where required.
Safeguarding & Wellbeing: Strict adherence to school-specific safeguarding policies, ensuring the physical and emotional wellbeing of all pupils.
Collaborative Working: Liaising effectively with Teaching Assistants, onsite therapists, and permanent staff to ensure continuity of care and learning.
Ideal Candidate:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Or equivalent, with a demonstrable passion for Special Educational Needs.
Specialist Experience: Proven experience working with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
Resilience & Empathy: A calm, patient demeanor and the ability to remain composed in challenging or high-pressure situations.
Behavioral Expertise: Training in Team-Teach, Price, or similar de-escalation strategies is highly desirable.
Adaptability: The ability to quickly build rapport with students who may find change difficult.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
