This role offers the chance to bring emergent technologies into operation in a strategically important sector. You will be primarily based in Surrey for hands-on, workshop-based build phases, with regular travel across the UK and abroad for deployments and maintenance. As part of the role, you will lead small teams during deployments, guide apprentices and junior engineers, and collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality products on schedule and within budget. The ideal candidate will come from a commercial or telecoms background, with proven networking experience to complement their electrical engineering expertise. Key Responsibilities Build and test panels, control cabinets, distribution boxes, cabling systems and marine installations Wiring, soldering at both cable and PCB level, connector assembly, and crimping Battery cabling and terminations Production of watertight cable looms and coaxial cable products System testing, interrogation, and fault-finding across power (typically DC) and communications equipment Configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of networking and telecoms equipment Working from Works Orders, CAD electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and production instructions Collaboration with electrical designers to improve products, drawings, and methods Providing leadership on deployments and mentoring apprentices Reporting progress, escalating issues, and ensuring stock, consumables, and workshop housekeeping are managed effectively Maintaining a safe and compliant working environment, ensuring equipment is tested and compliant, PPE is used correctly, and hazards are reported promptly Experience Required Minimum of five years' experience in Electrical Engineering, including time as a team lead or supervisor Background in commercial or telecoms industries with networking and communications expertise Proficiency in electrical build, test, and installation including wiring, soldering, and cabling Strong experience with Windows OS, networking configuration, and troubleshooting Independent problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly in field conditions Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently or lead a team Full UK driving licence UK Security Clearance, or eligibility to obtain clearance Salary & Benefits Salary £50,000 BUPA health cover Stock options or employee equity participation Opportunities for UK and international travel
