We have a well-established presence on high streets across the country, featuring a range of shops including boutiques, vintage and retro stores, and large format outlets. As a member of our retail team, you'll help us inspire communities to care more for others through innovation and collaboration in reducing, reusing, and recycling. Your role will also contribute to increasing income that funds our vital care and support services.
We value our people highly and strive to ensure you feel appreciated and included. Retail roles typically involve working most weekends, but our managers mainly work only every other weekend. We do not expect staff to work past 5:15 PM in most shops, with earliest shifts starting at 8:45 AM. We are closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day.
Our friendly Sue Ryder Ripon charity shop is located in the city centre, opposite the bus station and near car parks. Do you have retail experience and excellent customer service skills? Would you like to use your retail knowledge for an important cause? If so, come support our Shop Manager in running our Ripon shop and contribute to our wider work at Sue Ryder!
As our new Shop Supervisor, you will bring retail experience and commercial awareness to drive sales. A positive attitude and good judgment are essential, along with proven team leadership skills to guide a large team of volunteers. You should enjoy engaging with people, have a positive can-do attitude, and possess a good understanding of financial and IT administration.
Additional responsibilities include:
* Using your skills and retail experience to help drive business, increase sales, and meet targets.
* Leading a team to deliver excellent customer service to donors and customers.
* Collaborating with the local community to generate sufficient donated stock to boost sales.
* Recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers, providing leadership and guidance.
* Maintaining high standards of merchandising and housekeeping, prioritizing health and safety.
* Managing stock processes to ensure the shop is well merchandised with fresh, seasonal stock.
* Acting as a brand ambassador for Sue Ryder, supporting in-store campaigns and national fundraising initiatives.
* Managing stock processes through the Epos system.
Sue Ryder is one of the UK’s largest charity retailers with over 400 shops. Our mission is to ensure everyone facing end-of-life or grief has access to the support they need.
We offer a competitive benefits package, including:
* 27 days holiday, increasing to 33 with service, plus bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time)
* Company pension scheme
* Staff discount with thousands of retailers
* Refer a Friend scheme with a £250 payment
* Access to Employee support programmes
