Esland Bedford School is an independent SEMH special school for up to 50 children aged 8-18.

The school provides education to day pupils, and via our unique Turning the Curve provision, to young people who have been disengaged from education for significant periods of time.

We aim to maintain a nurturing and accepting environment for young people who have not had their needs met in other settings. Likewise, we also aim to provide a work/life balance to staff not available in larger schools.

Esland Bedford School are seeking a Nurture teacher to support in opening a third classroom in our recently opened, stand-alone KS2/3 Nurture provision.

About the role:

The role entails planning and delivery of a targeted curriculum for some of our most vulnerable pupils who are not yet ready to access our secondary curriculum.

The role would be suitable for teachers with experience of delivering a topic based curriculum and of working with pupils with Anxiety, Emotionally based School Avoidance, ASD and/or ADHD.

Qualified Teacher Status is essential, however exceptions may be made for candidates who demonstrate significant experience and impact in a school or nursery setting and have the ability to access a school based qualification pathway in the future (the advertised pay rate will likely not apply if QTS is not held).

What we can offer a SEN Teacher:

There are so many reasons to join us. From competitive pay to fast-track progression opportunities, we offer a whole host of well-being benefits, the use of our holiday home when you need a break, as well as a warm family work environment and a company culture focused on fun!

Financial security
* Competitive salary (£37,137 – £43,194), reviewed annually
* Esland education pension scheme — double matched up to 20% (total contribution up to 30%)
* Company sick pay

Most importantly, the opportunity to make a genuine, lasting difference to a child’s life within a supportive team.

Requirements for a SEN Teacher:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree
* An understanding of SEND, particularly SEMH
* Demonstrable and extensive experience and impact in a school or nursery setting
* Strong inclusive teaching and behaviour‑support strategies
* A clear commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare
Successful employment is subject to satisfactory Full Enhanced Disclosure, right to work and reference checks in line with government regulations and Safer Recruitment Practices (the company will cover the costs).
