Parks Inspection and Delivery Operative
An exciting opportunity has become available to work within Environmental Services in the Parks Development Team. The position is for 1 FTE (37hours) per week Monday to Friday
About You
You will carry out inspection, maintenance and installation of play areas and associated equipment, ensuring all works are completed in line with current safety standards and relevant legislation. You will be responsible for identifying defects, recording inspection outcomes and making recommendations to ensure play areas remain safe and fit for use.
You will support the delivery of a wide range of repair and maintenance activities, including safety surfacing, landscaping and general environmental works across the borough. This will involve working from technical drawings, following manufacturer guidance and using a variety of tools, plant and equipment safely and effectively.
As part of the service, you will contribute to both core operational works and external commercial activities, helping to maintain high-quality environments for residents and generating income where appropriate. You will also play a key role in ensuring that all work sites are safe, secure and compliant with Health & Safety requirements.
The role requires regular engagement with members of the public, partners and stakeholders, where you will provide a professional, positive and customer-focused service at all times.

The successful candidate will have:
1. Experience in play area installation, inspection and maintenance to recognised safety standards
2. Knowledge of play equipment, safety surfacing and associated repair techniques.
3. Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings and plans.
4. Experience of carrying out inspections and recording findings, including identifying and reporting defects.
5. Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
6. Experience using a range of tools, plant and equipment relevant to maintenance and installation work.
7. Good communication and customer care skills, with the ability to engage with the public and stakeholders.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, using initiative to complete tasks.
9. A flexible approach to work, including willingness to undertake varied duties and travel across the borough
